Campus Update

Asalamualaikum!

First, it is our honor to be serving the Harvard Muslim community this upcoming calendar year as HIS Presidents.

We plan on fulfilling this amanah (responsibility) by building on the incredible foundation laid for us and elevating HIS as best as we can.

However, over the past few years, the state of Harvard University funding to student organizations has drastically changed.

The Harvard Undergraduate Association (prev. Harvard Undergraduate Council) has steadily decreased their financial support semester by semester, with HIS receiving only $370.83 in Fall 2025 for all programming to our community of 200+ students.

We also pursued grants within the school for additional financial support. However, many vanished after the Trump administration’s various attacks on Harvard. Even with those that remain, the University has implemented strict rules regarding where funds go.

We are navigating and adjusting to this changing environment, but the university overall is not as financially supportive as it once was. We’ve had to become especially creative in how we run events, but that can only go so far.

Shakira and I have a strong vision for the year ahead and want to strengthen the Muslim community at Harvard as best we can. You can see many of the initiatives we’ve pioneered on campus in the Fall Semester recap above. We’d like your support in enabling the following initiatives & more:

Religious Programming
Al-Bustaan lecture series
Campus wide talks on spirituality
Inviting prominent Muslim speakers
Social Programming
Inter-MSA Iftaar
Eid Celebration
Study Breaks
Public Service & Awareness
Meal Packing & Charity Campaigns
World Hijab Week
Combatting Misinformation On Islam

Please donate below and enable HIS to achieve our vision of strengthening our Harvard Muslim community, and especially consider a recurring donation to empower us with reliable income to support consistent programming.

Mentor Harvard Muslims Through AMAL!

The Harvard University Muslim Alumni Association (HUMA) & HIS are excited to announce a new partnership with AMAL House, a non-profit that connects Muslim undergraduate students with appropriate industry professionals for mentorship.

Their model pairs university alumni with current students and they’ve successfully launched at Yale, MIT, UT Austin, UC Berkeley, and more. Students have landed jobs at Google, McKinsey, PWC, and other top companies through referrals, warm introductions, and career mentorship.

AMAL House came to Harvard in October (pictured above with Shaheer Rizvi ‘08) and received significant interest, with a number of current sophomores & juniors applying. They are now seeking alumni mentors to match with students to help Muslim students find jobs in the current market.

Generosity precedes reciprocity, and as our Beloved teaches us, “The upper hand is better than the lower hand.” Please sign up below!

Interested In Hosting A HUMA Iftaar?

Coordinating can be as simple as calling a restaurant for space and sending reminders in your area/city to hosting the Iftaar at your home.

We now have hosts for NYC, LA, Chicago, SF, Philadelphia, Houston, Atlanta, DC, Princeton NJ, Orlando, Toronto, London, & Islamabad.

However, we are still looking for hosts in hubs such as Boston and Dallas. We will cohost/welcome Muslim Alumni of Yale (MAY) at many of these iftaars. In addition, the newly formed Princeton University Muslim Alumni Association (PUMAA) will join/potentially cohost iftaars as well.

If you’d like to sign up to host, please fill out the form below.
